A Breakfast with Friendship Force

On October 9th, we had the pleasure of welcoming members from Friendship Force to Mooreland Garden Inn for a private breakfast. The organization – which hosts members from all over the world – stopped in Carlisle to enjoy a week-long historic visit to Pennsylvania. The trip was organized by Dawn’s mother, Laraine, a long-time member of the organization and sponsored by members of Friendship Force Greater Harrisburg. Friendship Force’s mission is to foster connection through travel and homestays to create a diverse, connected, international community. Over twenty members visited the Carlisle area, coming as far as England, St.Louis, California, Florida, and New Mexico.

Breakfast began with our signature granola, coupled by delicious quiches, and fresh local peaches with a vanilla custard. We also served Baked Oatmeal with locally sourced apples and vanilla sauce – a new recipe for the Inn. Members of Friendship Force contributed to the breakfast by organizing our beverage station and facilitating the transfer between both groups. This spirit of teamwork and contribution was incredibly helpful and created a lively and cheery environment. Bruce gave a lovely history of Mooreland Garden Inn followed by a tour of the property. It was a delight to hear member’s stories and share our own history with them over a homemade meal. In addition to breakfast at Mooreland Garden Inn, the group visited Philadelphia, the capitol building in Harrisburg, the historic battlefield and Gettysburg, and a coal mine in Ashland. We are grateful this group of friends decided to explore our area and bring their joy to Mooreland. The organization is a great example of building community across boundaries and sharing experiences around the world, and it was a delight to host them at Mooreland Garden Inn. It will be great to stay connected as Friendship Force Greater Harrisburg sponsors other explorations, like the exciting upcoming trip to Nepal in 2026! And if you are local to Harrisburg, connect with members in the area here: https://friendshipforceharrisburg.org/.

Thanks again to the dedicated members of Friendship Force who made the trip to Pennsylvania possible, and who brought their unique experiences and stories to breakfast at Mooreland Garden Inn.
